Okengwu the village seer predicts the future, warning the villagers of how an "evil being with no toes but speaks through its nose" will put Udi and its environs into flight of danger. The elders perform rituals and sacrifices against this prediction, yet it comes to pass a few years later. In this text, characters with inhuman acts are visited with the law of retribution. The writers employs historical narration as his style. He is culturally inclined, as is evident in his use of proverbs which is relevant to the context of the story. The language used is simple and ideological. The code-mixing of pidgin, Igbo and English makes it vivid and appealing to read
