Description

Memoirs of a Lunatic is a gripping satire on the near-insane looting of national treasuries by politicians in the new democracies of Africa. The villain, Oyewumi is representative of the emergent self centred political office holders, whose sole agenda is to amass personal wealth at the expense of the masses. While critical sectors like education yearn for attention, the leader goes after a grandiose personal project to acquire a merchant ship. In a dramatic twist, the looter is outwitted by a more dangerous societal leech in the character of Akin Smart. Memoirs of a Lunatic in the hands of the socio-crusader playwright is turned into a prophetic warning on the consequences of maladministration.
