Pestle on the Mortar, one of Olu Obafemi's earliest plays written around 1974, examines the social rubbles that characterize city life. An innocent search for job in the city of Lagos reveals the pull between obtaining a job and remaining committed to a youthfu! love which is the travail of Lela, whose dream melts as she finds herself entrapped in the claws of Alhaji Hassan's lust.
