Description
The Animal King compares with other African stories of fictions and folklores where some animals were more important than others. Just like in Animal Farm by George Orwell, The Animal King is characterized by much distrust, greed and corruption among leaders. The playwright effectively portrayed human racial, ethnic and religious differences throughout the play. My primary emotion after I finished reading the script is that Africans need good leaders in order to tap their great potentials. This work is characterized by an excellent writing style especially in the criticism of Africa's democratic process and challenges which are hampered by poor conflict resolution mechanism. The Animal King is thought-provoking, enjoyably entertaining, very inspirational, socially fulfilling and intellectually rewarding. I recommend this book to other readers who would want to know how politics is played in Africa and how African democracy may be heading to totalitarianism if not checked.
