Description
The Jinx is an enthralling tale of one man's struggle for self-empowerment and his resolve to humanity at large, in spite the haunting ghosts of his genealogy which ultimately determine to what extent he would grind enduring satisfaction from a life so characterized by contradictions. The post-colonial dilemma of the African for whom the processes of history have been unfair to; the apparent malevolence of forces higher than the natural reckoning of the protagonist and his environment; and of course a combination of the two momentous motifs force the consciousness of the reader to a standstill; as it guided the lucidity of the delivery. There is evident storytelling talent on display here, in line with the now established Nigerian Literary Scheme and its strong base on the interplay between tradition and modernity.
