Priscy, the only daughter of Onyekwe and Mgboeke finds herself in a dilemma. Her father has given her one whole night to think aright, to sleep and cool her head and dream good dreams in order to accept what he had told her, that is, to marry Chief Uwaezue or stand disowned. In addition, the Chief has instigated the termination of her teaching appointment in order hand in the marriage. At this crists tormented by the combined machination of his intended financee 'a conscience-forsaken' girl and Chief Uwaezue, holds reciprocity for her ever tormenting love. They quicky strike at a plan for elopement. That notwithstanding Priscy sets for Ray and Chief Uwaezue, a love puzzle which throws the whole village into panic and mystery. This play examines a number of questions including the following. What is love? To what extent could marriage contract be based solely on love? What are the real generators of love money, beauty, virtue, youthfulness, character compatibility or social status? What are the consequences of male domination (entranched into the African culture) on the major family decisions such as the choice of life partners for the sons and daughters of the family? What does a mother consider in choosing a husband for her daugher the daughter's comfort satisfaction, position or riches? Does the father consider the same thing? How far does the peer group influence the choice of a life partner? Some psychological needs of the Nigerian adolescent have been adequately taken care of in this play. The play has received the benefits of many productions in the resultant refinement. It was CONVOCATION PLAY, for the 3rd convocation ceremony of Bendel State University, Ekpoma, in 1988 E. O. O. June 1988.
